Rail transport planner

Function

As a Transport Planner for Baantransport in Bornem, you will be responsible for planning transport orders for our own vehicles as efficiently as possible. You will ensure that all transport assignments are carried out on time, correctly and in accordance with specific requirements. You’ll be in daily contact with drivers, suppliers (including French-speaking ones) and customers. Thanks to your organisational skills, our transport processes will continue to run smoothly.

What you will do:

• Scheduling transport orders on our own vehicles, which are constantly on the road for us.
• Monitoring deadlines and ensuring that orders are dispatched on time.
• Capacity management and monitoring of ongoing shipments.
• Identify problems and resolve them independently, or proactively seek alternatives.
• Working closely with drivers and French-speaking suppliers.
• Follow procedures and advise on possible improvements.
• Switching quickly between different transport flows and solving last-minute puzzles.

Profile

We are looking for a Transport Planner with a strong background in rail transport and a proactive attitude. You have a keen eye for detail and are not afraid to improve processes without losing sight of the bigger picture.

What we’d like to see in your profile:

• At least 3–5 years’ relevant experience as a planner in rail transport.
• A critical eye and the ability to question existing planning methods.
• A proactive individual who contributes ideas on process improvements.
• Accurate, solution-oriented and with a hands-on approach.
• Language skills: Dutch, French and English (required for working with French-speaking suppliers).
