Transport planner
Function
As a Transport Planner, you fulfil a crucial role within the dynamic environment of an international organisation. You are the spider in the web between production, transporters and internal stakeholders, where you are responsible for managing export flows and optimising transport processes. Every day offers new challenges in which cost, service and quality are key. Your working area spans several European countries such as Poland, France, the UK and Scandinavia. In this versatile role, you will work both operationally and administratively, combining sharp planning skills with the ability to build lasting relationships with transport partners.
- Coordinate and plan international freight flows with a focus on optimal efficiency.
- Maintain strong relationships with external carriers through negotiation and cooperation.
- Manage operational queries and complaints, such as waiting hours and deviations.
- Checking and validating transport invoices and managing transport tariffs.
- Preparation of monthly transport forecasts and identifying optimisation opportunities.
- Actively liaise between internal teams such as shipping and sales to ensure smooth workflow.
- Effectively handle tight deadlines and varying volumes within a constantly changing planning environment.
Profile
We are looking for an experienced Transport Planner who stands firmly in his or her shoes and has a working knowledge of transport processes. Are you proactive, organised and have good communication skills? Then you are the one we are looking for!
- Minimum 3 years' experience in transport planning, preferably within an industrial environment or transport/expedition company.
- Extensive knowledge of tariff structures, waiting hours and complaint handling in the transport sector.
- You work in a structured way and maintain control even in stressful situations.
- Excellent communication skills in both Dutch and English; knowledge of French is a plus.
- Team player with the ability to maintain relationships and negotiate convincingly.
- Self-starter with a solution-oriented and flexible mindset.
- Willingness to assume responsibility in both the operational and administrative sides of the role.
Organisation
Our client is a Belgian, growing group with more than 70 branches spread over more than 20 countries worldwide. Internationally, the group has around 7,000 employees.
The site in the Dendermonde region specialises in the production of paper and cardboard for packaging purposes. You will be working in a highly technical production environment and will be responsible for analysing and continuously improving the maintenance process.
