Tender Engineer
Function
As a Tender Engineer based in Sint-Truiden, you will contribute to the preparation and development of challenging building and civil engineering projects within a leading Class 8 construction group. You will act as a key link between the client, design teams, subcontractors, suppliers and internal project managers. The focus is on buildings and civil engineering; this is not a role for candidates with an exclusively infrastructure-based background.
You will analyse tender documents and translate technical, commercial and contractual information into a high-quality and competitive tender proposal. You will work closely with experienced colleagues and be given the opportunity to further develop your technical knowledge within a dynamic environment where collaboration and innovation are key.
- Reviewing specifications, plans, bills of quantities, technical provisions and contract documents.
- Identifying technical issues, risks, opportunities and potential improvements.
- Requesting, comparing and carrying out technical assessments of quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Preparing cost estimates, price comparisons and budgets for building and civil engineering projects.
- Co-ordinating the various contributions within the tender team and monitoring deadlines.
- Provide support in drawing up implementation methods, planning elements, technical notes and commercial documents.
- Liaising with designers, clients, partners and internal departments to produce a comprehensive and well-founded proposal.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of tender processes, costing methods and knowledge-sharing within the organisation.
Profile
For this role, our client is seeking a Tender Engineer with relevant experience in the construction sector, preferably in building construction, general engineering or civil engineering. You combine a technical background with analytical insight, commercial rigour and the ability to organise multiple projects simultaneously.
- You hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture, architectural engineering, civil engineering or a similar technical discipline.
- Experience in a relevant role, for example as a quantity surveyor, works planner, tender engineer or technical file manager within the building or civil engineering sectors.
- Thoroughly analyse technical drawings, specifications, bills of quantities and contractual documents.
- An understanding of cost calculation, quantities, price enquiries and the technical feasibility of construction projects.
- You work with precision, in a structured manner and with a focus on results, even when several tenders are running simultaneously.
- Communicates effectively with internal and external stakeholders and is able to explain technical information clearly.
- Familiar with standard MS Office applications; knowledge of cost estimation, planning or bill of quantities software would be an advantage.
- You have a professional command of Dutch; knowledge of French or English would be an advantage.
- Shows an interest in innovative construction methods, sustainable solutions and continuous professional development.
