Technical Purchaser

Function

As Technical Purchaser In Gits, you will be a key link within a technical production environment where quality, delivery reliability and cost-conscious working are paramount. You will combine analytical insight with a hands-on approach and work closely with internal stakeholders such as engineering, production, quality and management, as well as with external suppliers.

In this role, you will manage a varied portfolio of procurement projects and closely monitor procurement processes. You will ensure that the organisation can rely on the right goods and services, on the right terms and within the agreed timeframe. In doing so, you will undertake both operational and coordinating tasks and have a direct impact on the continuity of operations.

Your duties will include:

• Requesting, comparing and evaluating quotations in detail
• Negotiating with suppliers on price, quality, delivery times and commercial terms
• Helping to draw up and monitor specifications and technical procurement documents
• Preparing and processing purchase orders
• Tracking deliveries and orders from order placement to receipt
• Reading technical drawings and specifications and translating them into appropriate purchasing actions
• Consult with internal departments to identify needs in good time and coordinate accordingly
• Monitoring stock levels and helping to maintain a healthy working capital
• Actively contribute to process improvement within procurement and supplier management

You will be working in a stable and well-organised environment with a high level of technical expertise. You will spend at least half your time on operational monitoring, which means you will play a visible and tangible role in day-to-day operations.

Profile

For this role, we are looking for an experienced and meticulous professional with a strong affinity for technology, process monitoring and negotiation. You feel at home in an industrial environment and are able to prioritise effectively between operational matters and more analytical tasks.

We expect you to have:

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree, preferably in a technical, economic or logistics-related field
• 5 to 10 years’ relevant experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain or a technical-administrative environment
• Strong analytical skills and a structured approach to work
• Good negotiation skills and a professional communication style
• A good command of Dutch and a good working knowledge of English; additional languages are an advantage
• Experience in reading technical drawings or a willingness to learn this quickly
• Good digital skills and fluency in MS Office; experience with ERP systems is an advantage
• A hands-on approach, combined with a sense of responsibility and attention to detail
• The maturity to collaborate effectively with various internal and external stakeholders

You are someone who moves comfortably between administrative tasks, communication and operational follow-up. You are results-oriented, critical where necessary and always keep a clear overview, even when dealing with several cases at the same time.

voestalpine Sadef’s head office and production site are based in Gits, Belgium.
