Sustainability Expert

Function

The Sustainability Expert participates in the design and implementation of sustainability strategies and ensures clear and effective communication of the sustainability vision and compliance with applicable regulations. The position has a coordinating nature and requires close collaboration with various departments, including HR, Operations, Environment, Marketing and other internal stakeholders.

• Strategy, governance & compliance
• Translating sustainability objectives into an integrated and executable sustainability strategy
• Monitor compliance with local, European and international sustainability regulations (such as CSRD, EU Taxonomy and CSDDD)
• Coordinate and monitor external certifications and ratings (including B Corp, Responsible Glass, EcoVadis and Science Based Targets)
• Identify sustainability-related risks and opportunities and report these clearly and substantiated to senior management
• Advising management on strategic decisions with an impact on ESG and sustainability

Data, impact & reporting

• Collection, structuring and analysis of data relating to energy, water, waste flows and CO₂ emissions
• Establish and manage robust processes for data collection and reporting, in line with regulatory requirements and auditing standards
• Transparent reporting on sustainability results through internal reports, presentations and external sustainability reports
• Underpinning sustainability initiatives with clear KPIs and impact analyses

Project coordination, collaboration & anchoring

• Translating sustainability ambitions into concrete actions, technical solutions and projects with measurable impact
• Coordinating and monitoring sustainability projects within a new state-of-the-art production site
• Working closely with HR, Operations, HSE, Communications and international colleagues to embed sustainability organisation-wide
• Training and sensitising colleagues around sustainable thinking and best practices
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Profile

• At least 5 years of relevant experience within sustainability, ESG or environmental management, with a strong focus on project management
• In-depth knowledge of sustainability principles, environmental legislation, energy efficiency, circular economy, sustainable technologies and ESG reporting
• Experience with sustainability reporting, auditing and certification processes is a clear asset
• Excellent communication skills in Dutch and English, both oral and written
• Proactive and solution-oriented mindset, with the maturity to work in a fast-growing and technically complex environment
• Strong motivation to help build a new site where processes and structures are still evolving

Organisation

At least 5 years of relevant experience within sustainability, ESG or environmental management, with a strong focus on project management

In-depth knowledge of sustainability principles, environmental legislation, energy efficiency, circular economy, sustainable technologies and ESG reporting

Experience with sustainability reporting, auditing and certification processes is a clear asset

Excellent communication skills in Dutch and English, both oral and written

Proactive and solution-oriented mindset, with the maturity to work in a fast-growing and technically complex environment

Strong motivation to help build a new site where processes and structures are still evolving
