Site Manager for West and East Flanders
Function
- Organise and coordinate one to two construction sites a day in East and/or West Flanders, with project budgets typically ranging from €5 million to €20 million.
- Draw up daily and weekly schedules, set clear priorities and monitor progress closely to ensure that staff, materials and equipment are available in good time.
- Manage workers and subcontractors on site and create a working environment in which safety, cooperation and quality are clearly prioritised.
- Monitor the implementation of technically challenging projects, such as foundation works for energy infrastructure, concrete structures and works in industrial or port-related environments.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, site instructions and agreed working methods; you take prompt action should any risks or deviations arise.
- Handle the administrative follow-up involving site reports, reports, daily records, delivery notes and material certificates, to ensure that the project administration remains complete and reliable.
- Provide clear reports to the project manager, identify bottlenecks at an early stage and help devise practical solutions that will facilitate planning and implementation.
- As a site manager, you will be assigned suitable sites in the region, taking your place of residence into account, so that you can take on technical responsibility for projects where your expertise is best utilised.
Profile
- A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering provides a good foundation, but relevant experience and career progression on site can be just as suitable.
- You have approximately three to five years’ experience in the construction, industrial, civil engineering, hydraulic engineering or foundation works sectors.
- You are sufficiently familiar with technical plans, implementation methods and site processes to be able to set priorities and justify decisions independently.
- Leadership in the workplace appeals to you: you communicate clearly, address people when necessary and know how to bring different parties together to achieve a common goal.
- Accuracy is important in this role, as correct planning, administration and reporting contribute directly to safety, budget control and the smooth running of operations.
- You remain calm when circumstances change, take the initiative when problems arise and, at the same time, keep an eye out for feasible solutions and good teamwork.
- You communicate fluently in Dutch; you can get by in English. Knowledge of French is an advantage, but not a prerequisite.
