Site Manager

Function

As Site Manager at Asse You will be responsible for the day-to-day management, organisation and optimisation of logistics operations at the site. You will ensure the continuity of operations, directly manage the management team and ensure that processes run smoothly, safely and in accordance with the agreed SLAs and procedures.

In this role, you will combine operational leadership with a strong focus on quality, efficiency and collaboration. You will maintain a visible presence on the shop floor, provide guidance where necessary and actively work to build a high-performing team and a sustainable organisation.

• You define and monitor policy guidelines, systems, quality standards and procedures to ensure the site operates correctly.
• You monitor KPIs and budgets and works with your team to translate analyses into concrete actions for improvement.
• You organise and coordinate day-to-day activities, taking into account priorities, capacity and operational needs.
• You draw up contingency plans for disruptions such as delays, technical faults or social incidents, and coordinates implementation where necessary.
• You maintain close working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, such as transport partners, social partners, technical services and project teams.
• You manage the site budget, including FTEs, temporary staff, purchases, investments and facility costs.
• You’ll contribute to projects and innovations in collaboration with IT and the project team.
• You coach, motivate and develop your management team and the wider site organisation.
• You are responsible for safety, hygiene and compliance internal guidelines and best practices.

In this role, you will report to the Operations Manager and work in an environment involving day and night operations, where tight schedules, reliability and continuous optimisation are key.

Profile

For this role, we are looking for an experienced and capable leader with a strong understanding of logistics and a keen sense of responsibility. Ideally, you will have extensive experience in a managerial role within logistics, distribution or a similar operational environment, and you will be accustomed to working in a complex, rapidly changing environment.

• You have at least 10 years’ experience in a position of responsibility, preferably in logistics or distribution.
• You are fluent in both Dutch and French.
• You have a a good balance between task-oriented and people-oriented leadership.
• You have strong communication and interpersonal skills and is able to facilitate change within a constructive consultative framework.
• You are visibly present on the shop floor and feel at ease working alongside operational teams.
• You use a a pragmatic, no-nonsense and can-do approach.
• You have experience with logistics systems; knowledge of SAP is a major advantage.
• You are familiar with Microsoft Office tools and, ideally, have knowledge of ERP and WMS environments.
• You are flexible working hours and willing to monitor the night-time operation on a regular basis.
• You combine analytical insight with decisiveness and are able to set the right priorities under pressure.

Organisation

This is a national player in the logistics sector, specialising in the coordination and distribution of time-sensitive deliveries. The organisation is responsible for the end-to-end management of a specific distribution flow, organising and monitoring daily deliveries via a network of external transport partners.

The activities include, amongst other things, operational planning, quality monitoring, data analysis and performance management. There is a strong focus on reliability, tight schedules (often involving night-time operations) and the continuous optimisation of logistics processes within a complex network of partners.
