Transport Insurance Claims Manager

Function

As a claims handler for transport insurance, you will take on various claims and monitor them closely from start to finish.

Your duties will include:

• You will open, analyse and process claims files from start to finish.
• You will collect and check documents such as CMR consignment notes, invoices and proofs of damage.
• You investigate the circumstances and cause of a claim and assess the potential liability.
• You assess claims in accordance with CMR regulations, insurance terms and conditions, and Incoterms.
• You will liaise with clients, insurers, experts and other relevant parties.
• You will actively monitor claims and ensure they are dealt with correctly and in a timely manner.
• You will monitor the progress of various cases and take the initiative to find a solution.
• You should carefully record all relevant information and correspondence in the file.
• You will work closely with an experienced claims adviser, thereby further developing your knowledge of claims, the CMR and transport insurance.

Damage can, for example, occur at various stages of a transport operation. You would then investigate exactly where things went wrong, which agreements apply and which party is liable.

Profile

For this role, we are primarily looking for someone who works meticulously, enjoys getting to the bottom of things and is keen to gain a deeper understanding of claims management.

• You have strong administrative skills and work in a structured manner.
• You have an eye for detail and enjoy examining cases thoroughly.
• You are a good communicator and enjoy liaising with various parties.
• You can keep track of several cases at the same time without losing sight of the bigger picture.
• You are keen to learn and have an interest in insurance, transport and claims management.
• Some initial experience in insurance, claims handling, administration or customer service would be an advantage, but is not essential.
• A bachelor’s degree is an advantage.
• You speak Dutch fluently. Knowledge of French and English is a plus.
• You are keen to learn more about CMR, Incoterms and transport insurance.

Organisation

You will be joining an organisation operating in the transport and logistics sector, where various branches work together on transport operations and the associated services. Within the organisation, claims management plays a key role in providing customers with the right support should anything go wrong during transport or storage.

You will work alongside experienced colleagues and be given the opportunity to further develop your knowledge. The role therefore offers a combination of responsibility, training and the chance to take on increasingly complex cases with greater independence over time.
