Railway Calculator
Function
As a Railway Works Estimator, you will be responsible for the financial planning of railway projects. You will be involved from start to finish, from the tender stage right through to handover to the construction phase. Working closely with various teams, you will ensure accurate budgeting and a competitive tender. Your duties will include, amongst other things:
- Thoroughly reviewing tender documents, specifications and project documents
- Drawing up cost estimates and carrying out accurate cost calculations
- Drawing up clear and competitive quotations and tender documents
- Monitoring tender processes and keeping track of deadlines
- Carrying out site visits to accurately assess the project’s requirements and needs
- Request and compare quotes from suppliers and subcontractors
- Preparing detailed calculations for each cost item
- Preparing handover documents and actively participating in handover meetings to ensure that the handover of responsibilities runs smoothly
Profile
Are you a maths whizz with an eye for detail and a passion for technology? We’re looking for someone who:
- Hold a technical qualification (in electromechanics, electrical engineering or equivalent)
- Works in an analytical, precise and structured manner
- Quickly understands technical documentation and contributes to problem-solving
- Enjoys working with and communicating clearly with colleagues, suppliers and partners
- Experience as a cost estimator, work planner or in a similar role would be an advantage
- Proficient in MS Office and cost estimation software
- Knowledge of railway technology is an advantage, but not a requirement
