Project Manager, Steel Structures
Function
As a Steel Structures Project Manager, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of industrial projects in the fields of steel construction, overhead cranes and industrial building. You will oversee projects from preparation and planning through to execution, handover and evaluation. In doing so, you will balance technical, organisational and commercial interests and ensure that staff, subcontractors, clients and internal stakeholders work together efficiently.
You will be given the freedom to make decisions independently, lead teams and propose improvements. You will report directly to the Steelworks Business Unit Manager and make a visible contribution to the continued growth of an enterprising organisation that delivers impressive infrastructure projects for industrial clients both at home and abroad.
- Project follow-up: planning, organising, coordinating and monitoring steel construction projects from quotation to completion.
- Planning and budget: monitoring progress, costs, capacity, deadlines and project risks, and making timely adjustments where necessary.
- Technical coordination: co-ordination of engineering, production, assembly, site operations and technical documentation.
- Team management: managing, supervising and motivating project staff, site management and subcontractors.
- Quality and safety: to ensure that work is carried out correctly in accordance with the applicable quality, safety and environmental standards, with due regard to the VCA guidelines.
- Customer and partner management: act as a central point of contact for customers, suppliers, partners and internal departments.
- Contracts and additional works: monitoring contractual agreements, identifying risks and providing support during negotiations on amendments and additional works.
- Reporting: report transparently on progress, results, bottlenecks and risks to the Steelworks Business Unit Manager.
- Improvements: contribute to more efficient processes, a clear project approach and the further professionalisation of the business unit.
Profile
For this role, they are looking for a technically proficient project manager who can bring structure to complex steel construction projects whilst communicating effectively with a range of stakeholders. You combine relevant experience with a sense of responsibility, commercial acumen and the ability to make decisions when circumstances require it.
- You hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering or an equivalent technical discipline.
- Relevant experience in project leadership, site coordination or project management within steel construction, industrial construction, metal structures or a related technical field.
- A sound basic technical knowledge of steel structures, assembly, engineering, manufacturing processes and industrial construction projects.
- Carefully monitor schedules, budgets, contractual agreements and project documentation.
- Able to manage multidisciplinary teams and subcontractors in a clear, respectful and results-oriented manner.
- You communicate professionally with clients, suppliers, colleagues and other project partners.
- Works in an organised manner, maintains an overview and identifies risks before they affect implementation.
- An entrepreneurial mindset, with the ability to identify commercial opportunities, areas for improvement and ways to further develop customer relationships.
- A VCA-VOL certificate is an advantage; if necessary, you are willing to obtain one at short notice.
- You have a good command of Dutch. Knowledge of French or English is an asset when dealing with industrial clients and partners.
- You are willing to travel flexibly from the Houthalen-Helchteren area to carry out project and site monitoring.
