Project Engineer, Mechanical Engineering R&D
Function
As a Project Engineer in Mechanical Engineering, you will be involved in the full development of innovative machines and test systems. From the initial concept through to final installation at the customer’s site, you will play an active role throughout the entire project lifecycle. This is a varied role combining engineering, assembly, testing and international commissioning.
As a Project Engineer in Mechanical Engineering, your responsibilities include:
- Developing and improving new machines and technical solutions.
- Building, assembling and testing prototypes.
- Installing, commissioning and fine-tuning equipment at customer sites both in the UK and abroad.
- Analysing technical issues and proposing improvements to products and processes.
- Preparing technical documentation, manuals and work instructions.
- Working closely with colleagues from the engineering, production and service departments.
- Providing technical support during demonstrations, trade fairs and commercial activities.
Profile
For this position as Project Engineer – Mechanical Engineering, we are looking for an all-round engineer who enjoys combining theory with hands-on technical work. You like to take ownership of projects from start to finish and are willing to travel internationally on a regular basis.
As a Project Engineer in Mechanical Engineering, you have:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electromechanics, Mechanical Engineering, Product Development, Machine Building or a related technical field.
- A keen interest in mechanical engineering, automation and product development.
- A hands-on approach and practical approach to engineering.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to travel abroad for installation and commissioning projects.
- A good command of English.
- Knowledge of Dutch is essential.
- A valid Category B driving licence.

Our client is an innovative SME based in the Maldegem region, specialising in the design, development and installation of high-tech test and measurement equipment for the agricultural sector. Their bespoke solutions are used worldwide by machinery manufacturers, universities and testing centres to accurately test, measure and optimise agricultural machinery. By combining engineering, machine building and automation, they deliver bespoke projects for customers across the globe.

As a Project Engineer in Mechanical Engineering, you can expect:
- A permanent, full-time contract.
- A gross monthly salary starting at €3,200, depending on your experience and qualifications.

- A company car for private use. You will initially be provided with a light commercial vehicle, with the option of switching to a passenger car in due course.
- A company mobile phone and laptop.

- A 38-hour working week, with each day starting at 8.30 am.
