Function

As a Mechanical Engineering Project Engineer, you will be responsible for the technical design and supervision of a wide range of mechanical engineering projects. You will translate the client’s requirements into a technical concept and oversee your project through to the delivery of a fully functional installation or machine.

  • You will design and develop bespoke machines, systems and mechanical solutions.
  • You will develop technical concepts further in a CAD environment.
  • You will produce technical drawings, specifications and other project documentation.
  • You will be working on applications in areas including mechanical engineering, hydraulics, drive technology and materials handling.
  • You will monitor the schedule, budget and scope of your projects.
  • You will liaise regularly with customers, suppliers, engineering and production.
  • During the assembly process, you will assist your colleagues with any technical queries or issues.
  • You will monitor the testing and validation of machinery.
  • You are responsible for ensuring the reliability, security and quality of the solution that has been implemented.
  • You’ll actively contribute ideas on technical improvements and optimisations.
  • You will provide technical oversight of your projects from concept and engineering through to implementation and handover.

Profile

For this role as a Mechanical Engineering Project Engineer, we are looking for someone with a strong background in electromechanical or mechanical engineering who enjoys combining engineering with the practical delivery of projects. You do not, therefore, need to be solely interested in design: communication, monitoring and problem-solving are also key aspects of the role.

  • Ideally, you will hold a Master’s degree in Industrial Sciences (Electromechanics), Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanics or a similar technical qualification.
  • You have a keen interest in mechanical engineering.
  • Experience as a Project Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Design Engineer or Mechanical Engineering Project Engineer would be an advantage.
  • You can work with CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD or a similar programme.
  • You have strong technical and analytical skills.
  • You have a solution-oriented mindset and an eye for detail.
  • You take the initiative and are able to take responsibility independently within your projects.
  • You communicate effectively with customers, suppliers, colleagues and the production team.
  • You enjoy working with people from different technical disciplines.
  • You are keen to learn and willing to further develop your technical knowledge.
  • An excellent command of Dutch is essential for this role.

Organisation

You will be joining a stable and financially sound Belgian group of companies specialising in technical services and comprehensive industrial solutions. Within the organisation, you will be working specifically in the division that focuses on mechatronics and mechanical engineering.

This department develops and manufactures bespoke machines and technical systems for industrial clients across a range of sectors. This involves combining various technical disciplines, including mechanics, electromechanics, hydraulics, drive technology, automation and materials handling.

Projects are managed from start to finish: from concept and engineering through to production, assembly, testing and handover. As an engineer, this means you’re closely involved in the actual realisation of your designs and can literally see your projects take shape on the shop floor.

Furthermore, given the size of the group, there are various opportunities to specialise further in a technical field or, in the long term, progress to other engineering or project roles.

Offer

As a Mechanical Engineering Project Engineer, you will receive a comprehensive remuneration package tailored to your knowledge and relevant experience. In addition, there is a strong focus on training, technical development and career progression opportunities.

  • Competitive gross monthly salary based on skills and experience
  • Company car, depending on experience
  • Meal vouchers
  • Hospitalisation insurance
  • Pension scheme
  • Insurance guaranteed income
  • 20 statutory holidays
  • 12 ADV days
  • 32 days’ leave in total
  • In-house and external technical training courses
  • Personalised training programme
  • On-the-job supervision
  • Horizontal and vertical career progression opportunities within a large technical group of companies
  • Regular sporting activities and corporate events
  • Special gifts for occasions such as birthdays and public holidays, amongst others
