Mechanical Engineering Project Engineer

Function

As a Mechanical Engineering Project Engineer, you will be responsible for the technical development, organisation and coordination of multiple projects carried out worldwide. In doing so, you will oversee not only the technical aspects, but also scheduling, budget, quality, safety and the smooth flow of information.

Specifically, as a Mechanical Engineering Project Engineer, you will:

• Organising and coordinating several international technical projects simultaneously.
• Monitor projects closely in terms of technical scope, budget, scheduling, safety and quality.
• Also take into account aspects such as the environment, hygiene and the applicable technical regulations.
• Develop technical project proposals independently.
• Prepare projects in detail and set out technical specifications and requirements.
• Help to determine and document the project stages, timing, costs and expected benefits.
• Ensure that all technical and commercial information is made available to the relevant internal departments in a timely manner.
• Gather and pass on the necessary information so that production can be planned and prepared as effectively as possible.
• Work closely with, amongst others, Sales, Engineering/Design, Procurement, R&D and Operations.
• To provide technical support during the start-up and commissioning of installations.
• Regular travel to international clients and project sites for both short-term and long-term assignments. (30%)
• Report directly to the Project Manager and work closely with him or her during the implementation of projects.

Profile

For this role as a Mechanical Engineering Project Engineer, we are looking for a technically proficient engineer who can work independently, whilst also enjoying being part of a multidisciplinary project team. You have already gained relevant experience and are skilled at the technical development, organisation and monitoring of projects.

As a Mechanical Engineering Project Engineer, you will recognise yourself in the following:

• You hold a Master’s degree in Electromechanics or another relevant technical qualification
• You have at least 5 years’ relevant technical experience.
• Experience in mechanical engineering, industrial plant, engineering or a similar technical field is a strong asset.
• You are able to develop and monitor technical projects independently.
• You’re good at planning, organising and monitoring projects.
• You can manage several projects and priorities at the same time.
• You will work independently and take responsibility for your projects.
• At the same time, you’re a real team player who works well with various technical and commercial departments.
• Experience with technical software applications is an advantage.
• Good command of English
• You are willing to spend more than 30% of your working time travelling internationally, for both short and longer assignments.
