International Service Engineer – Mechanical Engineering

Function

As an International Service Engineer in Mechanical Engineering, you will oversee the technical aspects of machinery, from the final checks in the workshop through to installation and servicing at the customer’s premises. You will take on an independent and varied role in which engineering, problem-solving and international customer contact are key.

Below is a list of your responsibilities.

• You will carry out the practical and technical preparations for the installation of new machines.

• You will supervise and coordinate the installation and commissioning of machinery on site at international customers’ premises.

• Before dispatch, carry out the final technical inspection and check that the machine has been assembled correctly in accordance with the plan.

• You check that all components and functionalities are present in accordance with the technical specifications and quotation.

• You will carry out functional tests and share responsibility for the final approval of the machines.

• You will carry out maintenance and technical service calls for customers.

• In the event of technical faults or complaints, you analyse the problem and, if necessary, visit the site in person to resolve the issue.

• You will work with clients both within Europe and at international locations outside Europe.

• You will report on interventions carried out and handle the administrative follow-up of service orders.

• You report technical findings and issues back to the in-house engineering and service teams.

• You will deliver technical presentations and training sessions, both internally and to clients.

• You represent the company in a professional and customer-focused manner and explain projects, machinery and technical solutions.

Profile

For this role as an International Service Engineer in Mechanical Engineering, we are looking for someone with a strong background in electromechanics who enjoys hands-on work and is actively pursuing an international career path. You do not need to have years of experience: technical knowledge, the ability to work independently and a willingness to travel extensively are just as important.

• You hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electromechanics or an equivalent technical qualification.

• Experience in mechanical engineering, service, commissioning or industrial engineering is an advantage, but not a requirement.

• You have a good knowledge of electromechanics and are interested in both mechanical and electrical engineering.

• You’re a hands-on person and enjoy working on machinery yourself and solving technical problems.

• You can work independently, set priorities and take responsibility.

• You are keen to learn and willing to gain a deeper understanding of high-tech machinery and processes.

• You have a customer-focused approach and communicate easily with a range of technical and non-technical contacts.

• You are willing to deliver presentations and technical training sessions to clients.

• You are very flexible regarding international travel and are willing to spend up to 80% of your time working abroad.

• A very good command of English is essential given the international working environment.

You will be joining an international high-tech machinery manufacturer in the Deinze area that specialises in thin-film coating technology. The company develops and manufactures both complete industrial coating machines and components, consumables and associated software.

The technology is used worldwide in applications such as energy-efficient glazing, displays, solar panels, thin-film batteries and other advanced industrial applications. The company combines its own engineering and machine manufacturing capabilities with a strong international service organisation and has operations and teams in Europe, Asia and the United States.
