HVAC Project Engineer

Function

As a Quantity Surveyor / Project Engineer, he or she acts as the link between sales, project preparation and execution. He or she translates technical requests into accurate cost estimates and technically detailed project files, ensuring that projects can be carried out efficiently and to a high standard.

He or she analyses plans and specifications, prepares cost estimates and supports the project management team during the preparation and implementation of projects.

Responsibilities

Calculation

• Analysing plans, quotations and technical documents.
• Preparing cost calculations and quotations.
• Calculating material, labour and project costs.
• Requesting and comparing quotes from suppliers.
• Ensuring that margins are correct and that project cost estimates are profitable.

Project preparation

• Drawing up technical dossiers and implementation plans.
• Drawing up bills of materials and technical documentation.
• Supporting project leaders in the preparation of new projects.
• Identifying opportunities for technical optimisation and cost savings.

Technical support

• Advising the sales and project teams on technical solutions.
• Consult with suppliers and subcontractors.
• Answering technical queries during the project.
• Contributing ideas on standardisation and process improvements.

Collaboration

• Work closely with sales, procurement, planning and project management.
• Ensuring a smooth handover from the costed stage to the implementation stage.
• To play an active part in ensuring that projects run efficiently and to a high standard.

Profile

• Has a technical qualification or equivalent experience.
• Has experience as a quantity surveyor, works planner or project engineer in the fields of HVAC, electrical engineering or renewable energy.
• Can interpret technical plans and diagrams correctly.
• Works with precision and an analytical approach.
• Has a strong grasp of figures.
• Is a good communicator and enjoys working with different departments.
• Thinks in a solution-oriented way and takes the initiative.
• Proficient in MS Office; experience with ERP or cost estimation software would be an advantage.
• Holds a Category B driving licence
