Location: Harelbeke, West Flanders, Belgium Specialisation: Construct Engineering Salary: € 2.800 - € 4.000 gross / month Contracttype: Indefinite time Hours: 40 hrs/week Work ritme: Day

Function

  • Analyse documentation for groundworks and demolition works, and translate plans, technical information and requirements into a substantiated cost estimate.
  • Draw up quotations and estimates, paying close attention to quantities, methods of execution, choice of materials, subcontractors and the available schedule.
  • Investigate optimisations and alternatives that are technically feasible and commercially viable, and coordinate these with internal departments or external partners where necessary.
  • Maintain direct contact with customers, suppliers and subcontractors in order to gather any missing information and refine assumptions in good time.
  • Highlight risks, areas for attention and potential gains or losses, so that decisions can be made on the basis of clear and reliable figures.
  • Actively contribute your technical and commercial insights during meetings and help to make proposals stronger and more feasible.
  • Report on the progress and content of your cost estimates to the person responsible for cost estimation, whilst taking on increasing responsibility for your projects.

Profile

  • A degree in civil engineering or an equivalent technical qualification provides a good foundation; approximately zero to three years’ experience in quantity surveying, groundworks, demolition work or a similar construction context is desirable.
  • Technical insight and analytical thinking will help you to get to the bottom of complex issues, make sound assumptions and construct logical calculations.
  • You work accurately and independently, but actively seek clarification when information is missing or a technical decision has an impact on the price or implementation.
  • Creativity and an inquisitive mindset are important: you don’t just think in terms of standard solutions, but also identify opportunities for alternative approaches and optimisations.
  • You communicate fluently in Dutch. Knowledge of French and English is an advantage. You are proficient in MS Office; experience with Tekla or a cost estimation programme would be a plus.

  • An open, collaborative working environment in which, as a Civil Engineering Estimator, you will work directly alongside experienced colleagues from the estimation, site management and commercial support teams.
  • A mentor will guide you through the induction process, so that you can familiarise yourself with the way things work, the files and the costing methods, step by step.

  • A working environment that offers scope for consultation, initiative and professional development within an organisation operating in the construction and infrastructure sector.
