Customs administrative assistant
Function
As a customs administrative assistant, you ensure that everything runs smoothly and correctly behind the scenes. You are responsible for the full administrative processing of customs files and work in an international environment where no two days are the same.
Your responsibilities will include, amongst other things:
- Managing client files from start to finish
- The preparation and processing of customs documents for import and export consignments, including goods to and from the UK and container shipments
- Advising colleagues on customs matters and collaborating with various internal departments
- Maintaining contact with customs, the FAVV and other port authorities
- Submitting pre-notifications for goods of animal origin being sent to the UK
- Helping to ensure proper compliance with current customs legislation and regulatory requirements
Profile
You don’t need to know everything just yet, but you do need to have the right interest and motivation to delve deeper into the world of customs and international logistics.
In addition, you recognise yourself in the following:
- Ideally, you will have a bachelor’s degree in Logistics Management or an equivalent qualification
- Experience with customs procedures and software such as CAS would be an advantage
- You are fascinated by international trade flows and customs legislation
- You enjoy learning new things and keep a close eye on new legislation and procedures
- You’ll actively contribute ideas on how processes can be made smarter, more efficient and more automated
- You work with precision and in a structured manner, and have strong administrative skills
- You are solution-oriented and take responsibility
- You are proficient in MS Office. Knowledge of SAP or another ERP system would be an advantage
- You communicate fluently in Dutch and English. Any additional languages are a bonus
- You keep your cool when things get busy, and you’re flexible and customer-focused
