Business Unit Manager
Function
Are you ready for a challenging role in which you lead, develop strategy and inspire teams? As a Business Unit Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the strategic, commercial, operational and financial success of a dynamic business unit. You will lead a team of around 50 staff and work closely with other managers and shared service departments, whilst ensuring sustainable growth and optimal operational performance.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Strategy development: Actively monitoring the market, identifying opportunities and translating these into concrete growth initiatives.
- Financial management: Drawing up budgets, forecasts and KPIs, and monitoring cash flow and profitability.
- Client and business development: Building strong and lasting customer relationships and providing support during key contract negotiations.
- Operational management: Monitoring projects, optimising processes and ensuring quality, efficiency and safety.
- Leadership: Coaching, motivating and developing your team, whilst fostering a culture of commitment and collaboration.
Profile
For this role, we are looking for an experienced leader with strategic insight and a proven track record of success in a complex technical or industrial environment. You will bring:
- Preferably a master’s degree in an engineering or economics-related field, but sufficient relevant experience is also welcome.
- At least 10 years’ experience, preferably in a role such as Project Manager, Business Manager or a similar position.
- Strong financial acumen and experience in budget management and monitoring KPIs.
- Commercial skills, with a focus on customer relations and contract negotiations.
- Experience with operational processes, project management and HSEQ principles.
- Excellent leadership qualities and communication skills, with a focus on team development and stakeholder management.
- Fluent in Dutch and English; knowledge of French is an advantage.
- Experience in E&I projects is a strong advantage.
Organisation
Our client is part of a larger group. This particular business supports chemical manufacturing companies in ensuring that their production facilities continue to operate safely and reliably. It does so through technical maintenance, E&I, engineering and optimisation projects. As Business Unit Manager, you will have the opportunity to run this Business Unit as if it were your own company.
