Software Automation Engineer (PLC/SCADA)

For an integrator specialising in automation projects, we are looking for a Software Automation Engineer.

What can you expect?

Your duties as a Software Automation Engineer:

• You will provide support to the Sales & Project Manager by contributing to the selection of products and materials, and estimating the time required during the quotation phase.
• You will be responsible for jointly defining the technical design, functional analysis and specifications in consultation with the customer, the Technical Lead and/or Project Manager.
• You will perform design, programming and documentation of PLC and SCADA solutions.
• You will programme, test and document robotic solutions in collaboration with suppliers and customers.
• You are actively involved in consulting with the Hardware Engineers and/or electrical engineers for the integration of hardware and software solutions.
• You will organise and supervise test phases (FAT/SAT), including the preparation of detailed reports and documentation.
• You will be responsible for the successful commissioning of solutions and providing support and training to the customer's operators and engineers.
• You will support the Sales & Project Manager in technical discussions with customers and ensuring clear communication and understanding throughout the project.

This company, headquartered in Wilrijk, specialises in projects around digital transformation and automation. The team currently comprises about 35 engineers who develop and implement these projects at various customers in Belgium. The company does electrical, hardware, software and MES engineering for customers. The engineers also do the commissioning themselves at the customer's site. The projects are mainly for customers in the manufacturing industry, both large multinationals and SMEs.

Your hard & soft skills as a Software Automation Engineer:

• You have a technical degree (Bachelor/ Master) or equivalent through experience.
• You have an affinity for industrial electrical applications and solid knowledge in this field.
• Your skills in automation and visualisation extend beyond Siemens products. Instead, you see opportunities to extend your knowledge to other applications and products (Rockwell, Beckoff...).
• The world of robotics is familiar territory for you, or you have a genuine interest and ambition to learn programme's from leading brands such as Kuka, ABB and GE Fanuc.
• You are proficient in the use of electrical drawing programs's and have the ability to produce drawings and designs. Whether ePlan, Autocad, Inventor, or similar tools, you have the necessary experience to prepare electrical schematics's adequately.
• Not only are you customer-friendly and enthusiastic, but you also think in terms of solutions.
• Variety in work appeals to you, and you see each project as an opportunity to both broaden and deepen your knowledge.
