Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the following range of tasks:

• You are the right hand of the R&D manager and functionally supervise and support your fellow mechanical engineers.
• Together with several colleagues, you will be responsible for the complete mechanical design of machines. This starts from the concept phase to the delivery of an industrialised machine.
• To this end, you work closely with your colleagues who specialise in steering or with external partners for whom you are the first point of contact.
• You push the boundaries of current technology. As an Engineer, you are bitten to constantly improve current machines and think creatively about new ones.
• You will have sporadic contacts with customers, closely monitoring the initial installations of the machines and the associated aftercare. Travel abroad may be requested for this purpose.

As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you can tick off most of the below:

• You are an industrial or civil engineer with previous experience in a similar position.
• You have relevant experience in optimising existing machines, coming up with new creative concepts.
• You already have experience with a 3D design package. Specifically, this involves working with CREO Parametrics.
• You are a strong conceptual thinker capable of tackling complex problems in a structured way.
• You have an eye for the financial and manufacturability implications of your design.
• You like an informal and no-nonsense culture.
• You speak very good Dutch and also have a good knowledge of English due to the international context.

Our client is a family business active in mechanical engineering that has existed for 100 years. They are a major player as a machine builder in the textile industry. Their customer base is mainly outside Belgium, more than 90% of their machines are for outside Europe. Moreover, they are always innovating themselves. As part of this innovation, they are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer. 

As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will join an SME with about 80 employees. Moreover, you will be able to collaborate on state-of-the-art machines and you will also be closely involved in the execution as they make all sheet metal, turning and milling work in-house.
Furthermore, you can count on a competitive salary package with car opportunity, meal vouchers and group insurance. You work a 39-hour week and are entitled to 13 ADV days. During the summer, 3 weeks collective leave are taken and they are also collectively closed between Christmas and New Year.
