Function

  • Research and product development projects: You conduct research and gather information to apply innovative ideas and technologies. You then define test protocols and implement them in the lab and production, with the aim of ensuring a product that is both technically-qualitative and economically sound.
  • After research and testing work, you formulate recommendations on better production methods, product properties, increased product performance and new opportunities. You improve existing products to products with more production and raw material profitability and to increased efficiency for our customers.
  • You liaise with suppliers and knowledge institutions to continuously build knowledge and use this knowledge in the execution of the projects.
  • Together with the R&D Manager and R&D colleagues, you will translate customer questions and requirements into research projects and candle development.
  • You will develop products (blend, wicks, packaging), with a high degree of sustainability in line with the agreed strategy.
  • You keep abreast of trends and legislation around sustainability and regularly spar about this with the Sustainability Manager.
  • You perform necessary lab tests for the development of new products and new combinations. If necessary, you seek out necessary external analytical opportunities.
  • You test out cost-down targets and consult with other departments (quality, purchasing, marketing, sales).
  • You analyse competitive samples to support your own developments.

Profile

  • A professional master's degree in chemistry or science;
  • min. 3 years' experience in a lab. Experience in project management is a plus;
  • Interest in chemical processes and sustainability;
  • good oral and written knowledge of Dutch and English;
  • Good communication skills both oral and written;
  • preferably knowledge of oils and fats.
  • analytically strong and can work systematically to a result;
