Function

As assistant calculator, you support the (main) calculator in calculating the correct cost price for each new project. Each project is different and has its own specifications, which means there is a lot of variation in the job.

Part 1 of the job description: supporting the costing of projects:

  • Gathering information from all parties in order to calculate the correct cost price.
  • Examination and analysis of specifications, plans and measurement statements.
  • Obtaining quotes from subcontractors in the market.
  • Checking tenders for conformity and completeness (incl. HSE risks).
  • Preparation for determining site costs: site supervision and site layout.
  • Examination of safety risk file.
  • Attend site visits.


Part 2 of the job description: Attendance at price rounding meeting.

  • Participating in the price rounding meetings.
  • Supporting your own calculations.


Part 3 of the job description: Supporting the preparation and follow-up of quotations.

  • After the wrap-up meeting, provide assistance in preparing and submitting the final proposal with required statements and attachments.
  • Support in reviewing the contractual documents, including the technical items against the tender documents.

Organisation

As an assistant calculator, you will be working for a class 8 general contractor for interior and exterior finishing. They focus mainly on the public and industrial service sector, such as:

  • hospitals,
  • schools,
  • nursing homes,...

There are currently 11 colleagues working in the calculation department, and our customer has a total of about 160 employees.

Profile

As an assistant calculator, we ask the following questions:

  • You are in possession of a Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in wood/engineering (or equivalent through experience)
  • No specific experience required - training on the job
  • Basic knowledge of French/English, some files are in French or English.
  • If you have experience with Autocad and/or MS Project, this is an added value.
  • Being able to read a plan well is also an added value
