Team leader Mechanics

Locatie: Bruges, West Flanders, Belgium Sector: Engineering Contract: Job option fixed Uren: 40 hrs/week

Function

As Team Leader Mechanics, you will be responsible for managing and supervising a team of technicians during maintenance and repair work on marine engines. You will actively work on the shop floor yourself and ensure that all work is carried out safely, efficiently and according to schedule. You will report directly to the Workshop Manager.

  • Leadership & coordination
    • You divide tasks within the team, set priorities and ensure that everyone works according to the applicable guidelines and procedures.
  • Cooperating on the shop floor
    • You will actively participate in the maintenance and repair of diesel engines and propulsion systems, both in the workshop and on board ships.
  • Administrative follow-up (limited)
    • You will be responsible for collecting, digitising and correctly archiving work cards (RW cards) for further follow-up by the Workshop Manager and technical administration.
  • Toolbox meetings & safety
    • You lead toolbox meetings, discuss planned work and highlight important safety aspects such as LMRA. You actively promote a strong safety culture within the team.
  • Team coaching & follow-up
    • You oversee the progress of the works, supervise your team members and jump in where necessary.
  • Reporting & communication
    • You will report daily to the Workshop Manager on progress, bottlenecks, staffing and scheduling.
  • Problem solving & optimisation
    • You identify technical or organisational problems in a timely manner and work with the Workshop Manager on solutions and continuous improvement.
  • Planning & materials management
    • You will inform on the status of machinery, required materials and staffing to ensure smooth planning.
  • Support for evaluations
    • You support evaluation moments and contribute to the further development of your team.

Profile

  • You have experience in diesel engineering and propulsion systems, preferably in a maritime or industrial context.
  • You have a degree in mechanical engineering, diesel engineering, internal combustion engines or equivalent through experience.
  • You have experience in managing a technical team and take the lead in this smoothly.
  • You work hands-on, independently and solution-oriented.
  • You take safety very seriously and apply LMRA consistently.
  • You communicate fluently in Dutch, both orally and in writing.
  • You are administratively accurate enough to follow up on work documentation.
  • You are flexible and combine leadership with cooperating on the shop floor.
