Quality & Safety Manager

Function

As Quality & Safety Manager, you will be responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring our quality, safety and wellbeing policies. You combine a policy-making role with a strong presence on the shop floor and work closely with senior management, production managers, engineering and staff at the various sites (two in Flanders, one in Wallonia and one in France). You are the driving force behind a culture in which working safely, to a high standard and sustainably is the norm, and you ensure this is manageable for all parties.

• As a prevention adviser (Level II), you will, in collaboration with our external service provider, ensure compliance with the statutory requirements regarding wellbeing, safety and health.
• You will draw up the overall prevention plan, implement it and closely monitor its implementation in collaboration with the relevant parties at our various sites.
• You translate legislation into clear and practical procedures and guidelines, and ensure that these are implemented within the organisation.
• You are regularly present on the production floor, identify risks and unsafe situations, and take corrective action where necessary.
• You will assist the engineering department in drawing up risk analyses for new machines and installations.
• You will investigate workplace accidents and incidents, identify improvement measures and follow them up.
• You will coordinate internal and external safety audits and organise safety campaigns, information sessions and toolbox meetings.
• As an active member of the Committee for Prevention and Protection at Work, you will continue to work alongside senior management and the social partners to foster a strong safety culture.
• In addition, I am responsible for the further development and monitoring of our quality policy.
• You will manage and update the relevant BENOR and CE dossiers for our products and processes.
• You will monitor quality controls at the various production sites in collaboration with our local quality staff, analyse the available quality data and take corrective action where necessary.
• If the results deviate from expectations, you should consult with the relevant managers, draw up improvement and action plans, and monitor their implementation.
• You will oversee inspection visits and audits carried out by certification bodies and, where necessary, coordinate specific quality tests with external laboratories.
• You will follow up on quality-related customer complaints and work with the production department to develop structural solutions and corrective measures.
• For new products and projects, you will be responsible for drawing up and implementing the quality plan.
• You will promote continuous improvement and ensure that quality awareness is widely embraced throughout the organisation.

Profile

We are looking for someone who combines technical expertise with a pragmatic approach and who knows how to get people on board with change.

• You hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a technical subject and have substantial experience in similar roles.
• You are a Level II prevention adviser and are confident enough to set out and monitor the guidelines both across the site as a whole and in collaboration with management.
• You have relevant experience in prevention, safety, the environment and/or quality management, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Experience with BENOR, CE certification, quality management or concrete technology is a significant asset.
• You feel at home on the production floor and combine knowledge of legislation and procedures with a pragmatic approach.
• You are critical and analytical, yet at the same time you know how to get people on board with change in a positive way.
• You work independently, take the initiative and follow up on cases meticulously and with a focus on results.
• You have strong administrative skills and know how to set priorities.
• You communicate easily with staff on the shop floor as well as with management, external service providers and inspection bodies.
• You have a good knowledge of Dutch and French. Knowledge of English would be an advantage.
• You are willing to travel regularly between our various production sites.
