Mould Designer

Function

As Mould Designer You will contribute to the design and development of moulds, cutting systems and technical drawings for steel sections. You will translate customer information and technical requirements into feasible designs, with a focus on quality, manufacturability and standardisation.

In this role, you will combine technical insight with precision and a collaborative approach. You will contribute to both new designs and modifications to existing drawings, and assist with the set-up of production machinery where required.

• Designing new moulds and trimming systems, including mechanical design and the maximum use of standard tools
• Preparation of working drawings for the production of moulds, replacement parts and trimming systems
• 3D modelling and drafting of new profiles based on customer drawings or 3D models
• Specifying dimensions and tolerances
• Technical support provide support during implementation and commissioning on production machinery
• Creating purchase order requests in SAP and helping to monitor the technical workflow
• Amending or correcting old drawings for the purpose of spare parts and improvements
• Contributing to planning, quality and a smooth start-up from the first rolling
• Actively contributing to continuous improvement in terms of quality, efficiency, well-being and the environment
• Environmental procedures and instructions strictly comply with and identify opportunities for improvement

You will report to the Tooling Manager and work closely with internal technical teams, production and quality. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in-depth on technical matters, takes the initiative and wishes to develop their skills within an environment where precision and collaboration are key.

Profile

For this role, we are looking for a technically-minded candidate with a bachelor’s degree or initial experience as an industrial engineer in a relevant technical field. You don’t need to be a seasoned expert, but you should already have a solid foundation and a strong willingness to learn.

We expect you to be familiar with technical drawing, have a good understanding of mechanics and be accustomed to working in a structured production environment. You should also have an analytical and creative mindset, enabling you to help devise and refine technical solutions.

• Training: a bachelor’s degree holder or a junior industrial engineer specialising in a technical field
• Experience: 0 to 3 years’ relevant experience
• Knowledge of punching and cutting technology
• Knowledge of tool steel, coatings and fastening systems such as clinching and flanging
• Experience with technical drawing software, preferably AutoCAD (2D) and NX (3D)
• Good knowledge of MS Office and a basic knowledge of F/E
• Understanding department-specific instructions and a willingness to apply procedures correctly
• Social and communication skills to work smoothly with colleagues from different departments
• Team-based working with a constructive and meticulous approach
• Analytical thinking, an eye for detail and a sense of responsibility
• Creativity in order to arrive at practical and efficient designs
• Willingness to undertake further training and further technical development

voestalpine Sadef’s head office and production site are based in Gits, Belgium.

Offer

You will be joining a stable and technical working environment in Gits, with a work schedule of 39 hours per week and 10 ADV days. Collective leave is scheduled for the summer and between Christmas and New Year, with the possibility of greater flexibility for certain roles.
