Function

As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for the end-to-end execution of a ship intervention period (maintenance, repair, mobilisation, conversion, installation of operating equipment, etc.) and redelivery. This position ensures that all projects are completed on time, within budget and to strict quality and safety standards, while also obtaining high performance and reliability of the vessel after delivery.

Below is a sample of your duties:

  • Strategic project leadership: using exceptional organisational and planning skills to manage complex projects, ensuring that the ship performs optimally upon delivery, overseeing the entire project scope for efficient and effective task execution and holding daily meetings focused on progress and optimisation.
  • Manage stakeholder management for project progress: Consult with the Technical Works Manager and Technical Supervisors and seek advice from Procurement and the Vessel Manager, while maintaining excellent communication with team members and keeping the Vessel Manager informed of project progress and budget.
  • Empowering team leadership: Coordinate and manage the project team, ensure their performance and well-being, provide necessary coaching and feedback, and demonstrate strong leadership to foster a team-oriented environment.
  • Comprehensive financial control: Take the lead on financial monitoring and cost optimisation, manage budget change requests with support from Finance and the Ship Manager, and perform in-depth financial analysis to ensure the financial health and compliance of the project, culminating in final invoice responsibility.
  • Contractor management: Ensure strict compliance with yard and subcontractor contracts, proactively manage additional work requests and consult with Procurement and the Vessel Manager on pricing and approval of Variation Orders.
  • Motivate the project team to apply a schedule-driven approach to get a shorter FI project within budget and scope.
  • Efficient claims management: effectively handling and resolving claims with input from Supervisors/Finance, keeping the Vessel Manager well informed throughout the process.
  • Reporting: Weekly reporting of progress to Project members.
  • ITP Monitoring: Monitor overall progress of the Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) on a weekly basis.
  • Preparation phase: Based at HQ for 9 to 12 months
  • Implementation phase: On site for 2-3 months, with a work regime of 2:1 rotation.

Profile

As a Project Manager, you can largely tick off the items below:

  • Minimum basic technical knowledge of ship repair, preferably dredging and offshore installation vessels.
  • Experience in turnaround repair/conversion projects (Onshore industry or Offshore sector) is a plus, but not a must.
  • Strong skills in financial control.
  • Experience in project management, including steering on schedule.
  • People management skills with the ability to form a cohesive project team.
  • PMP Project Management Professional training is an advantage.
