PLC Safety Engineer

Function

As PLC Safety Engineer, you will play a crucial role in developing, implementing and validating control and safety systems for innovative warehouse automation solutions.

Working primarily from Lokeren in an R&D environment, your expertise in Beckhoff TwinCAT, Beckhoff TwinSafe and/or Siemens TIA Portal is essential to ensure systems meet the highest standards of performance, safety and compliance. Together with multidisciplinary engineering teams, you will contribute directly to the design and improvement of automation platforms.

Key responsibilities:

• Designing, implementing and testing PLC control logic with Beckhoff TwinCAT and Siemens TIA Portal.
• Develop and validate safety logic in line with safety specifications and standards.
• Collaborate with technical leads for robust and secure automation solutions.
• Contribute to system validation and verification before deployment, including testing.
• Document and maintain system interfaces for internal and external integrations.
• Participate in design and architecture consultations from expertise in functional safety and automation.

Profile

We are looking for an experienced professional with a strong technical background to fill the role of PLC Safety Engineer.

Requirements:

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics or a related field.
• Minimum 3-5 years' experience with PLC programming in Beckhoff TwinCAT and Siemens TIA Portal.
• Knowledge of relevant safety standards such as ISO 13849, IEC 62061 or IEC 61508.
• Hands-on experience with safety PLC systems such as Beckhoff TwinSafe or Siemens Safety PLCs.
• Excellent analytical skills and a solution-oriented mindset.
• Experience in warehouse automation, material handling or industrial automation is a strong plus.
• Willingness to work at least three days a week on site in Lokeren.
