Project engineer - Energy storage

The main focus this firm is operating and expanding a portfolio of renewable energy installations in Belgium/Netherlands and surrounding countries as an end investor. In this capacity, they have decentralised assets spread across both countries, with a strong expansion in the Netherlands in the coming years. These are mainly installations with proven technologies (wind and solar) bought on return under subsidy systems.

They also launched a new division in 2021 focusing on new technologies, albeit complementary to the existing portfolio of renewable generation units.

For instance, the New Technologies team is currently working on rolling out a network of fast chargers (150-300kW) to capitalise on the policy-driven electrification of the vehicle fleet that will take place in the coming years.

In addition, the team develops energy storage projects that respond to the challenges associated with an increasing share of renewable energy in the energy mix. For this, we are looking at, among other things, standalone storage systems that

directly connected to the transmission grid, but colocation with renewable generation units is also being actively explored.

As a Project Engineer - Energy Storage:

- You will be primarily co-responsible for the development of the projects launched from the New Technologies team:

o You support throughout the different phases of an energy storage project: grid connection, permit, equipment tender, routeto-market, ...

o You work closely with internal and external stakeholders to bring projects to a successful conclusion.

- Follow closely technological/commercial developments in the rapidly evolving energy storage sector.

- Familiarise yourself with the relevant energy storage markets and closely follow developments within them.

- Support the investment team in the development of new related business cases (e.g. various forms of energy storage).

- You have a Master's degree within industrial sciences.

- Strong interest in energy storage, and by extension renewable energy, and the evolutions ahead in this sector.

- Strong analytical skills to understand the fundamentals of the energy storage business case.

- Strong technical skills that allow you to quickly become familiar with different energy storage technologies

- You can work independently and have a getting-it-done mentality.

- Goal-oriented, entrepreneurial and to-the-point.

- Analytically strong but also pragmatic.

- Excellent knowledge of MS Office applications, especially MS Excel.

- Strong communication skills.
